The Corporation for National and Community Service improves lives, strengthens communities, and fosters civic engagement through service and volunteering. Each year, the Corporation provides opportunities for nearly 2 million Americans of all ages and backgrounds to serve their communities and country through Senior Corps, AmeriCorps, and Learn and Serve America. Together with the USA Freedom Corps, the Corporation is working to build a culture of citizenship, service, and responsibility in America. American Red Cross (www.redcross.org), a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies. Last year, almost a million volunteers and 35,000 employees helped victims of almost 75,000 disasters; taught lifesaving skills to millions; and helped U.S. service members separated from their families stay connected. Almost four million people gave blood through the Red Cross, the largest supplier of blood and blood products in the United States. An average of 91 cents of every dollar the Red Cross spends is invested in humanitarian services and programs. Mark W. Everson is the President and CEO of the American Red Cross.


Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network (www.pointsoflight.org) partners with over 400 Volunteer Centers across the country to engage and mobilize millions of volunteers who are helping to solve serious social problems in thousands of communities. Through a variety of programs and services, the Foundation encourages people from all walks of life - businesses, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, low-income communities, families, youth, and older adults - to volunteer. Based in Washington, D.C., the Foundation has gained a national reputation as America's Address for Volunteering.


Youth Service America (www.ysa.org) is an international resource center that partners with thousands of organizations committed to increasing the quality and quantity of volunteer opportunities for young people, ages 5-25, to serve locally, nationally, and globally. Founded in 1986, YSA's mission is to expand the impact of the youth service movement with communities, schools, corporations, and governments. YSA envisions a global culture of engaged youth who are committed to a lifetime of service, learning, leadership and achievement.

Network for Good (www.networkforgood.org) is one of the Internet's leading charitable resources, a comprehensive Web site where individuals can learn more about causes and charities and donate and volunteer in their community, and nonprofits can take advantage of easy-to-use, low-cost tools for online engagement, fundraising and volunteer recruitment. Since its inception in November 2001, Network for Good has driven more than $40M in donations from more than 125,000 individual donors to approximately 15,000 nonprofits and referred more than 125,000 volunteers. Network for Good also provides services through its partners Touch DC, the USA Freedom Corps Volunteer Network, and others.


Citizens for NYC (www.citizensnyc.org). Citizens for NYC, a nonprofit organization founded in 1975 as the Citizens Committee for New York City, mobilizes New Yorkers to improve their neighborhoods in the areas of Urban Environment and Beautification, Safety, Poverty, Neighborhood Diversity, Youth-Led Community Service and Youth Entrepreneurship. We help New Yorkers build strong neighborhood volunteer groups that solve local problems, providing small grants, workshops, self-help information and assistance to more than 12,000 grassroots volunteer groups throughout the city's five boroughs. Business Strengthening America (www.bsanetwork.com). Business Strengthening America (BSA) is an important idea at a critical time - a collaborative, business-driven initiative to support the business communities efforts to expand employee volunteer programs and increase effectiveness of workplace volunteer efforts as a means to develop our employees, strengthen local communities and help meet the critical needs of the community. BSA challenges the private sector to galvanize its resources to foster responsible corporate leadership and the ethic of citizen service. Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity International (www.habitat.org). Habitat for Humanity International is an ecumenical Christian ministry that welcomes to its work all people dedicated to the cause of eliminating poverty housing. The Mayor's Volunteer Center of New York City (formerly known as the Mayor's Volunteer Action Center) brings together individuals, corporations, government agencies and non-profit organizations in order to connect people and facilitate meaningful volunteer opportunities that significantly improve the quality of life in New York City. Where to Turn (http://www.where-to-turn.org/). Where to Turn's purpose is to provide crisis relief services for victims of any kind of tragedy by aiding them in obtaining the help they need during the recovery process. Where to Turn will accomplish this purpose by:
  • Providing updated information on relevant support organizations, including deadline information for certain applications and filings.
  • Assigning project managers to support organizations and governmental agencies so as to assure victim awareness of and participation in all relevant programs.
  • Serving as a voice for victims to assure that proper officials are aware of victims' needs and concerns.
  • Create and/or support projects that foster community participation and interaction
